About the RMACD Framework

Framework Origin

The RMACD Framework (Read, Move, Add, Change, Delete) is a comprehensive governance model designed for managing autonomous AI agents in enterprise IT operations. It builds upon decades of proven IT Service Management practices while addressing the unique challenges of AI agent governance.

At its core, RMACD extends the foundational concepts from ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) into the agentic era. Just as ITIL provided a framework for IT service delivery and change management, RMACD provides a structured approach to governing AI agents that operate autonomously within enterprise environments.

ITIL Heritage

RMACD inherits key principles from ITIL's change management and configuration management practices. The five core operations—Read, Move, Add, Change, and Delete—map naturally to the fundamental actions that any system or agent might perform on enterprise assets.

The framework's three-dimensional approach (Operations, Data Classification, and Autonomy) reflects ITIL's emphasis on:

  • Controlled change: Every agent action is governed by explicit permissions
  • Risk management: Autonomy levels provide human oversight where needed
  • Classification-based access: Data sensitivity drives access controls
  • Auditability: All permissions are documented and traceable
